1. Assign a buddy or mentor for newcomers
The onboarding process is an exciting process but can be intimidating for the newcomer.
It’s important all their questions are answered during this time for a smoother transition. By assigning them a mentor or buddy that will help them learn the ropes of your company, they will be more inclined to ask more questions they might be hesitant to ask a manager.
2. Help them identify and achieve their goals
Encourage your team to take initiative and set goals for themselves.
Have them write their goal on a piece of paper enclosed in an envelope. After 6 months to a year, give them the sealed envelopes to see if they’ve achieved their goals.
This activity will fuel your employee’s desire for growth and can help managers guide their employees to their full potential.
3. Weekly Jam Sessions
When it’s Friday afternoon and the team is anxious to head home, give them a boost of energy by playing their favorite music throughout the office whether it be via the PA system or through a speaker.
Have them submit their song requests in the morning, and play them later in the afternoon for an hour to engage and reinvigorate your employees with a fun energy boost!
4. Have a “distracted” jar
Everyone struggles with staying engaged and focused from time to time. Help employees by having an outlet for restlessness with a distracted jar.
Fill the jar with activities, jokes, or even certain things to Google when they’re stuck in a rut.
This will help get the distractions out of their system, so employees can continue on with their amazing work. Believe it or not, this activity actually boosts productivity and engagement!
5. Celebrate your Employees
Make sure your employees feel appreciated by celebrating them!
Birthdays, promotions, retirements, new hires, there are endless opportunities to show your employees you care and appreciate them.
Whether you celebrate them by having a team lunch or you send out a company-wide newsletter, showing them you care is a great way to boost employee happiness.
By investing time in increasing your employees’ engagement, you’ll find that it boosts productivity, retention rates, and overall company morale.
